PIC’s global genetic information system, PICtraq™, utilises the powerful quantitative genetic BLUP system to derive Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) for a range of traits. Further to this, it incorporates PIC’s DNA marker technology information, PICmarq™, to increase the accuracy in the prediction of genetic merit. To optimise genetic gain, PIC utilises a complex mating program called PICmate™. PICmate™ finds the best mating combination that optimises genetic gain whilst minimising inbreeding co-efficients within the population.
